Kallis announces retirement from Test cricket
Kallis says it's been an honour to have been part of the SA Test team for 18 years.
JOHANNESBURG - Jacques Kallis has announced he is retiring from Test and first-class cricket after the conclusion of the series against India.
Commenting on his decision, Kallis said he felt he had given everything he could to test cricket but remains available for selection in the limited-over formats for South Africa.
Kallis said it's been an honour and a privilege to have been part of the South African Test team since making his debut 18 years ago.
"I have enjoyed every moment out in the middle but I just feel that the time is right to hang up my Test whites."
He said it wasn't an easy decision to come to but said he feels he has made his contribution in this format.
Kallis made his Test debut as a young and humble 20 year-old and finishes his Test career as one of the greatest cricketers to have played the game.
