CAPE TOWN - Western Cape farmers have offered to donate animal feed to drought-stricken areas in the Northern Cape and North West.

Western Cape Agriculture MEC Gerrit van Rensburg says farmers want to help out in areas where others have been battling to keep their animals alive.

He says a train has been made available to collect donations from various Western Cape towns.

The MEC's spokesperson Wouter Kriel says, "The Western Cape in contrast experienced very good crop harvest over the past few years. The farmers have an abundance of hay."
