JOHANNESBURG - The ANC on Tuesday expressed its condolences following the death of anti-apartheid activist and the mother of the late ANC Youth League president Peter Mokaba.

Priscilla Mokaba died from lung cancer at her daughter's Polokwane home on Sunday.

The 76-year-old was part of the struggle against the apartheid government in the 1980s and was jailed for her efforts.

The ruling party described her as "a fearless and dedicated revolutionary of the struggle."

ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu says Mokaba was an inspiration.

"Mama Priscilla was a pillar of strength during those terrible times of apartheid."
