CAPE TOWN - The Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum says it has further prioritised child safety for this festive season.

The CPF's Abie Isaacs says missing children cases usually increase in the area around this time of year.

He has urged parents to be vigilant.

"History has taught us that specifically over this period parents are in a festive mood and they tend to neglect their children. That is why we agreed this would be a focus area."

He says, "We have teams on standby if a child goes missing."

Isaacs says officials have also been deployed to beaches across the city.

He adds parents should keep a recent picture of their children with them at all times - in the case of an emergency.
