CT tourism skyrockets
CT Tourism says visitor numbers are increasing just halfway through the festive season period.
CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Tourism says visitor numbers to the Western Cape are already booming and it's only halfway through the official holiday period.
Cape Town Tourism CEO Enver Duminy says there's been a slow but steady growth in tourism over the last few summers.
He adds many restaurants across the city are already fully booked until the new year.
"One thing we've noticed especially is that there's an increase in self-drive compared to people just travelling traditionally via an airline, which we're encouraging for the car rental agencies. What's also of importance is the increase in bookings for restaurants, which is of course part of the tourism experience."
Duminy says this success falls in line with 2014 World Design Capital celebrations.
"There's a lot of hustle and bustle, which is important for the tourism industry - especially this time of year where we know that people come to our shores just to experience what we do daily. This is good season for Cape Town and we are positive about the future."
