Malema, Hofmeyr both nabbed for speeding

JOHANNESBURG - Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema and Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr have both been arrested for speeding in two separate incidents in Gauteng .
Police say Malema was caught speeding yesterday on the N1 Highway near the Vaal at 215 km/h, almost twice the speed limit on that road.
The firebrand political leader was travelling with three friends on their way from Bloemfontein to Johannesburg when his vehicle triggered the high speed unit's monitors.
Malema is expected to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court today on charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as speeding.
Meanwhile, Hofmeyr was arrested for speeding on the N4 Highway in Bronkhorstspruit yesterday afternoon.
He was travelling at 169 km/h.
Gauteng Traffic Polices Busaphi Nxumalo says he was released on R500 bail and will appear in court on Monday.
Malema and Hofmeyr were allegedly arrested within minutes of each other.
