Houghton still a focal point
Many of those who couldn’t participate in today’s funeral have congregated outside Mandela’s Houghton home.
JOHANNESBURG - Those who haven't managed to make their way to the Eastern Cape for Nelson Mandela's funeral have continued flocking to his Houghton home.
Thousands of flowers are spread across the lawn and street outside the home where he died on Thursday 5 December.
Candles, posters and pictures of Mandela surround the bouquets of flowers where people from all over Gauteng will continue paying their last respects.
Houghton has been the focal point since Madiba's passing and the atmosphere has been largely festive, in celebration of his life.
But today, the mood is sombre as South Africans say their final goodbyes.
