A bloody start to CT's long weekend
Five people have been killed in an accident on a stretch of the N1 Highway dubbed ‘the road of death’
CAPE TOWN - It's been a bloody start to the long weekend on Western Cape's roads.
Two accidents took place during the early hours of this morning on a stretch of the N1 Highway dubbed 'the road of death'.
In one incident, five people were killed between Laingsburg and Leeu-Gamka, when a minibus taxi and a bakkie collided.
Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says, "Both vehicles caught alight and are in flames. Four people in the minibus died in the accident and the driver of the bakkie has also died."
In a separate accident, two trucks collided and burst into flames.
