People of Joburg paid tribute to Madiba with songs, stories and dance at the SA State Theatre.
JOHANNESBURG - As tributes continue for Nelson Mandela, various artists and actors took to the stage at the South African State Theatre to honour his life.
The theatre was packed to capacity as hundreds paid their final respects to the world icon.
There was a celebratory mood as the audience sang and danced.
The crowd sang along to famous songs such as Brenda Fassie's Black President, which was a song written for Mandela.
Acclaimed poet and Gcina Mhlope had the crowd eating out the palm of her hand as she told the story of Madiba living in rural Qunu while musician Ehashi Elimhlope got the crowd on their feet, dancing to songs in honour of Mandela.
