Staggie parole violation probe almost ready
A probe into Rashied Staggie's parole violation could be revealed soon.
CAPE TOWN - The Department of Correctional Services says the outcome of an investigation into whether former gang boss Rashied Staggie violated his parole conditions could be known by the end of this week.
Staggie's parole was revoked last week and he was taken back to Pollsmoor Prison.
He was released about two months ago after spending more than a decade behind bars in connection with rape and theft.
Staggie is believed to have violated his parole conditions by apparently joining the newly formed political party, the Patriotic Alliance.
The Correctional Services Department's Manelisi Wolela says, "The rearrest of Staggie was a precautionary measure while the investigation is underway to establish the authenticity or the veracity of the allegations against him."
