CAPE TOWN - Minister in the Presidency, Collins Chabane, says the FNB Stadium is ready to host over 91 heads of states for Nelson Mandela's memorial service.

The memorial is likely to be the one of the biggest ever in the history of the world.

We're now on 91 Heads of State & Gov confirmed plus 10 former Heads of State. 86 Heads of delegations & 75 Emminent Persons. #Madiba #DIRCO

The former statesman passed away peacefully at his Houghton home in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Chabane told 567 CapeTalk that everything is in order.

"Cabinet set up an inter-ministerial committee which is a committee of ministers. I'm just coordinating and chairing it. I think we are ready to receive people through our airports. We think we have all the systems in place and the necessary accommodation."

Chabane says the FNB Stadium should be ready by this evening.

"With regards to the actual preparation at the stadium, everything is in place. We had taken control of the stadium since Saturday. There are few things that need to be corrected, but we think we are on track and by this evening everything will be finalised."

Chabane says they will offer transport to the public to see Madiba's remains at the Union Buildings on Wednesday.

"At 10am we will transport dignitaries, heads of states and international guests to the Union Buildings so that those who want to catch flights back home can be able to do so. Once we are done with them, we will take through the public until 5pm that day."

The public can view Madiba's remains from Wednesday to Friday.

All the provinces will host their very own memorial services for the global icon.

The 95-year-old will then be laid to rest at Qunu on Sunday.

His rural village is currently preparing for what has been dubbed the funeral of the century.
