Platinum Stars 'forget' the MTN8 final
Platinum Stars will adopt a new approach for their Telkom Knock Out clash with Orlando Pirates.
JOHANNESBURG - Platinum Stars coach Allan Freese has told his players to forget about the MTN 8 final.
Stars beat Pirates in a penalty shootout to lift that title, but Freese says winning the Telkom Knockout is a completely different story. The two teams meet on Saturday evening in Nelspruit.
Freese says his team needs to adopt a new approach for this weekend.
"Saturday will be a new ball game that we'll prepare for differently from this game. We beat them on penalties the last time and we had prepared differently for that. We will need to give it our best."
Pirates Coach Roger Da Sa says he's looking to turn the team's poor luck around on Saturday when they take on Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout Final.
It will be the Buccaneers' third Cup final this season, following appearances in the MTN 8 and CAF Champions League finals, both of which they lost.
Da Sa says they will have to be at their best to beat Stars.
"I don't think their campaign last year and their achievements so far have been a fluke. They're probably favourites if you look at their record."
"We're looking forward to it and we hope to turn the tables around. We'll have to be at our best, and hopefully that will be enough."
