JOHANNESBURG - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has been scathing in her findings in three reports released on Thursday.

She blamed government officials for either reckless and unethical behaviour or maladministration.

The long-awaited Dina Pule report revealed the former communications minister lied to both Parliament and the public protector.

She called on the axed minister to apologise to Parliament and return the tax money used to fund her boyfriend's lifestyle.

The other cases involved the Department of Basic Education and the the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

She blasted Basic Education Director General Bobby Soobrayan for not doing his job in the Eastern Cape and for not delivering workbooks to schools on time.

Madonsela also questioned an R800 million fisheries contract.

She said the president should consider disciplining Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson for being reckless with state money.
