CT vegetation fire under control
Firefighters managed to contain a large mountain fire between Camps Bay and Hout Bay.
CAPE TOWN - Firefighters have managed to bring a large vegetation fire raging on the slopes of the mountain between Camps Bay and Hout Bay under control, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Three helicopters water bombed the area.
Fire service spokesperson Theo Layne says, "It's going to take some time to completely extinguish the fire. It is fanned by a very strong south-easterly wind at the moment."
Last week, authorities launched the Western Cape fire season campaign.
More than a dozen planes and about 700 crew members will be on duty this season, which runs from December until May.
