JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates defender Lucky Lekgwathi admits his team is going into the Telkom Knockout Cup final against Platinum Stars as underdogs.

The two sides will clash at Nelspruit on Saturday night.

Pirates have already lost in the cup final of the MTN 8 and in the CAF Champions League.

Lekgwathi knows that his team doesn't go into the game as favourites.

"We're the underdogs and it's a great motivation. We're looking to win our first trophy in 2013. Our last cup final at Mbombela Stadium was against Black Leopards and we hope history is going to repeat itself."

Defender Happy Jele says Pirates are not dwelling on the loss to Stars in the MTN 8.

He says Saturday's game gives them a chance to make history.

"As a team and as individual players, we spoke about it. We had two finals and we didn't make it, but our focus is on this final and not the previous ones we have lost."

Pirates midfielder Daine Klate has praised Platinum Stars for what they have done this season.

But he vowed Pirates will make amends for their MTN 8 loss.

"It's another final for us, which is a good thing and I think we're ready for it. It's going to be a very big battle for us but I don't think we'd like to lose three finals in a row. Having said that, we're playing against a very good side, it's not going to be a walkover."

Kick-off is at 8.15pm.
