Mdluli to remain on suspension
The Richard Mdluli matter will now head to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
PRETORIA - It appears former Crime Intelligence head Richard Mdluli will remain on suspension as the court ruling to reinstate criminal charges against him goes on appeal in Bloemfontein.
The North Gauteng High Court on Monday granted the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) leave to appeal that court ruling.
Judge Aubrey Ledwaba found that the NDPP put forward a compelling case to have the Mdluli matter reviewed.
Freedom Under Law (ful) did not oppose the application because it believes the issue is of significant public importance.
It emerged that National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega has given the organisation an undertaking that it will give it 20 days' notice if she intends allowing Mdluli back at work.
In the event that happens, FUL has indicated it will seek a fresh application preventing him from doing so.
