Another casino on the cards for CT
MEC Alan Winde is hopeful bids for another casino will open early next year.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Economic Development MEC Alan Winde is hoping that by early next year, bids for a second casino in Cape Town will open.
A study was commissioned in 2010 to look at the viability of another gambling site in the city.
There are currently five operating in the province.
The MEC says they've been consulting with existing licence holders.
"No casino licence lapses. Those that have got their licences keep them. The decision we need to take is, do we leave the geographic space and allow no casino to move or would we allow one to move. And if we allowed it, would it be beneficial for us from a taxation point of view if it moved to the city? I believe the answer is yes."
The V&A Waterfront and Cape Town Stadium have reportedly both been mooted as possible sites for a casino.
