JOHANNESBURG - A 61-year-old man with Alzheimer's has gone missing in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, after being discharged from hospital.

David Radebe was treated at the Kalafong Hospital.

He was discharged on Saturday without anyone available to take him back to the old age home where he lives.

His sister Jane Makhanya says she's concerned because he doesn't know the area or the way home.

"He just went out the gate, probably looking for someone that he may recognise or his transport back to the old age home."

She says Radebe is wearing grey chinos and a maroon golf shirt.

His hair is shaved and he had no facial hair when he left the hospital.

Makhanye adds that he is very dark in complexion.

"He looks very well and he speaks sense when you speak to him. Only then when you ask about his relatives, where he stays, his age, his birthday - all of that he doesn't know."
