CAPE TOWN - Agang SA leader Mamphela Ramphele has met with women in the Hout Bay area in Cape Town in an effort to address women's issues.

The forum also forms part of the 16 days of activism campaign being highlighted in the country at the moment.

Ramphele met with the group at the Houtbay community centre to voice their concerns about challenges facing females in the country.

Ramphele says the issue of women's safety was a topical debate during the gathering on Saturday.

The politician says it's important the challenge be addressed and resolved.

"Women tend to think about the future because they want to see a future South Africa which is governed by a clean, competent government. A south Africa where women, children and young people can walk safely in the streets."
