JOHANNESBURG - National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega has called on the public to work with the police in stopping criminals.

Phiyega joined a team consisting of the Tshwane Metro Police, officials from the Department of Home Affairs and the Tactical Response Team in raiding several crime hotspots in Pretoria on Friday night.

Illegal immigrants, prostitutes, and illegal gamblers were arrested.

The police commissioner says police will increase visibility throughout the festive season.

"I want to say once more that somewhere, somehow somebody knows something about crime. If you do, come to us because it's our duty to remove that type of crime around where you are."
