Suspects in Abramjee robbery in court
Three men face charges of armed robbery, possession of stolen property and extortion.
JOHANNESBURG - Three men are scheduled to appear in court today in connection with a spate of crimes in Gauteng, including a robbery at Crime Line head Yusuf Abramjee's home in Erasmia.
The men are facing a number of charges including armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of stolen property and extortion.
Abramjee, his wife and son were held up by two robbers on Friday morning.
He and his son exchanged gunfire with the suspects, but no one was injured.
It's understood the gunmen cut the electric fence to gain entry into the home.
The suspects were arrested in Atteridgeville on Monday afternoon.
The police's Neville Malila says one of the suspects tried to bribe a police officer.
"The extortion charge relates to an attempt to buy the docket from the police."
