Mkhize: NDP will go a long way
The ANC treasurer general says the NDP needs support from everyone to succeed.
CAPE TOWN - ANC Treasurer General Zweli Mkhize says government's National Development Plan (NDP) will go a long way to improve basic services for all South Africans.
He addressed the Cape Town Press Club on Tuesday about the benefits of the plan.
Mkhize described the NDP as a purely South African recipe.
He says the plan will tackle issues such as corruption, HIV, economic growth and crime, but will only succeed if it is not politicised.
Mkhize adds government plans to spend at least R3.3 trillion in the next 20 years with the aim of growing the GDP by seven percent and reducing unemployment by six percent.
He does caution this will not happen overnight.
The treasurer general says narrowing the gap between the highest and lowest income earners must happen soon.
