‘DA not interested in transformation’
The Western Cape ANC says the DA’s transformation policy downplays real issues.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape ANC on Tuesday said the Democratic Alliance (DA) is not interested in pushing for real transformation in South Africa.
The party says the DA's recent policy conference failed to address pertinent issues like unemployment, poverty and inequality.
But the DA says it emerged from the conference having a much clearer stance on Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), saying it supports it if it benefits everyone.
DA leader Helen Zille said her party believes race still matters in terms of redress but their approach is different to that of the ANC.
Western Cape ANC Secretary Songezo Mjongile is not convinced.
He says the DA's transformation policy downplays the real issue of addressing exclusion of Africans in the real economy.
