CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Local Government MEC Anton Bredell says it's back to the drawing board for the developers of the LagoonBay Lifestyle Estate in the Southern Cape.

On Wednesday, the Constitutional Court handed down judgment in a long-standing dispute over whether the George Municipality or the province had the authority to decide on the developer's land-use application.

The court found that MEC was within his right to dismiss a rezoning application for the large-scale project.

Bredell is satisfied with the ruling.

"The development can't continue. If the developer wants to continue he must start from scratch and fill in a new application."
