'Gender-based violence must be stopped'
It’s hoped the 16 Days campaign will help people speak out against gender-based violence.
CAPE TOWN - The Saartjie Baartman Centre for Abused Woman and Children said on Wednesday the stigma around gender-based violence in South Africa needs to be eradicated.
The 13th annual 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign kicks off next week Monday.
The organisation's Shaheema Mcleod said they hope to encourage South Africans to speak out against violence.
"I would encourage anyone to get in touch with the police or with the Saartjie Baartman Centre if they just need someone to talk to. Speak to your peers, colleagues and teachers and they will point you in the right direction."
