Four people missing after heavy rain
Police divers in the Eastern Cape are still searching for the bodies of four people.
CAPE TOWN - Police divers in the Eastern Cape are still searching for the bodies of four people who went missing following heavy weekend rain.
According to police spokesperson John Fobian, 10 people were initially reported missing in the province.
He says six bodies were recovered.
The drowning incidents were reported in Bizana, Balfour and Port St. Johns.
A mother and her two children are among the dead after they tried crossing an overflowing river at Tsolo, Fobian confirmed.
"The South African Police Service divers, and search and rescue dogs are still looking for four people that are missing."
Meanwhile, two people drowned in the Western Cape over the weekend due to heavy rain.
At least 18,000 people were affected by the flooding.
