JOHANNESBURG - There are conflicting reports about the death toll following a structural collapse at a mall in Tongaat.

Crisis Medical Operations Director Neil Powell says two people died.

But Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said one person died and 29 people were injured in the collapse.

"We have got units on scene already. We believe the whole roof has collapsed," he said.

According to officials, it would appear all the injured were construction workers.

The KwaZulu-Natal centre is still under construction.

YouTube user Imraan Rajak posted this video from nearby the site where the roof collapsed on construction workers:

ER24's Durban-based Twitter account says there are "many casualties".

They've requested that drivers make way for any emergency vehicles rushing to the scene.
