JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng motorists have been warned against using Tom Jones Road in Benoni as police have blocked off the road due to a massive sinkhole.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services say they are stationed on the corner of Tom Jones and Ampthill Street were the road has been barricaded until further notice.

The sinkhole is said to have a radius of two metres.

Ekurhuleni EMS's Rogers Mamaila says, "Currently it's very dangerous for motorists to use the same road. We urge motorists to use alternative roads.

"In other words when you leave the N12 and driving into Benoni via Tom Jones, people will notice that we have barricaded the road and they will need to be patient."
