JOHANNESBURG - Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza on Friday appealed to hundreds of mourners to refrain from speculating about the cause of this week's fatal crash which claimed the lives of 30 people.

A memorial service is underway for the victims of Monday evening's collision on Moloto Road in Kwaggafontein.

At least 29 others were injured in the multi-vehicle crash.

Mabuza opened his address by thanking police for their swift action.

He then went on to share some words of comfort with the mourners.

The premier said although death is inevitable, it is important for communities to unite and not lose faith.

Mabuza said he would not use the platform to fuel speculation over the cause of the crash.

He added infrastructure was not solely to blame.

Mabuza said a lack of patience and tolerance by motorists also played a major part in the collisions.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
