JOHANNESBURG - The Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Thursday responded to Bidvest Wits Chief Executive Officer José Ferreira complaints about referee Lwandile Mfiki and Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould.

Ferreira sent through a letter of complaint about Gould's performance during the league game between Chiefs and Wits.

Gould punched Wits striker Getaneh Kebede, but was not cautioned for the action.

Ferreira says he is happy the PSL is taking the matter seriously.

"The league indicated to me that they are currently reviewing the situation and that they will report to me shortly."

Ferreira also sent through a letter of complaint to the South African Football Association (Safa) about Mfiki, but has not yet heard back.

"I have written to them and I look forward to their response."

The PSL will not be making any further comments on the issue.

Gould has apologised.
