R331m spent on CPT textbooks
The W. Cape Education Department has spent over R331m on textbooks and teacher’s guides for 2014.
CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department has invested over R331 million in textbooks and teachers' guides for the 2014 school year.
The department has delivered R8.1 million in textbooks and reading books to schools in the province over the last three years.
Western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant says, "The total cost of the three-year plan was R605 million."
The department says that over the last two months alone, schools in the province have received textbooks and teachers' guides which cost R2.9 million.
Grant says, "I'd like to thank and congratulate all the officials who have made this unprecedented roll-out possible and our schools for cooperating with our ordering deadlines. I am sincerely proud of what we have achieved."
