Madikane died after being suffocated
Postmortem results show the 10-year-old boy was suffocated to death.
JOHANNESBURG - According to Gauteng police, postmortem results show 10-year-old Siphamandla Madikane, who was found murdered last week, died after being suffocated.
Madikane's half burnt body was discovered by a passer-by in a bush near the Ramaphosa informal settlement on Johannesburg's East Rand after he'd been reported missing.
Before his disappearance, Madikane was last seen playing with his friends on 3 November at around 7pm.
A missing person's case was opened at the Reiger Park Police Station and police together with community members immediately began searching for the boy.
A used condom was found alongside his body and socks appeared to be stuffed in his mouth.
The police's Tsekiso Mofokeng says no arrests have yet been made.
"The results of the postmortem have come out and suffocation was the cause of death. We're appealing to the community to assist us in arresting the perpetrators."
