Four die on WC roads
Four people have lost their lives in separate accidents while 22 motorists were arrested for drunk driving.
CAPE TOWN - Four people have died on Western Cape roads this weekend.
In the latest incident, a pedestrian lost his life after a motorist overtook a bus and knocked into him on the R300 on Saturday night.
In another fatal accident, a driver lost control of his car on the N7 near Melkbosstrand on Saturday.
Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says, "We had an accident on Vanguard Drive where a truck and a motor vehicle collided. Apparently the motor vehicle skipped a red robot and collided with the truck. One person died in that accident."
Meanwhile, Africa says they have also arrested several motorists for various road violations in the province.
"We arrested 22 drunk drivers; one driver was arrested for reckless and negligent driving in Vredenburg. We also arrested one speedster in the Beaufort West area. He was driving a Mercedes Benz at a speed of 183km/p in a 120km/h zone."
