ANC will take back WC - Sisulu
ANC member Max Sisulu is confident his party will once again rule the Western Cape.
CAPE TOWN - ANC member and National Assembly Speaker Max Sisulu says the ruling party stands a very good chance of winning back control of the Western Cape in next year's elections.
Sisulu visited some voter registration points in Khayelitsha in Cape Town on Saturday.
He says he was impressed with how smoothly everything ran there.
"People came in numbers to register and others just to find out if they could get identity documents. We had to refer then to Home Affairs but others people were very keen to register and I was quite impressed."
Sisulu says the ANC is in a good position to clinch the Western Cape again.
"I'm confident people are going to come out in numbers to vote in the national and provincial elections. The ANC is going to do very well. It is going to do better than it did in the past, definitely."
Over the past few days, ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe met with residents in Langa, Delft and Gugulethu.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance has vowed to retain the province's leadership.
It has also made it clear it is eyeing Gauteng and the Northern Cape.
Both parties have been campaigning tirelessly ahead of the 2014 elections.
