Thandi Maqubela guilty
Thandi Maqubela was found guilty of murder, fraud and forgery in the Western Cape High Court.
CAPE TOWN - Judge John Murphy on Thursday found Thandi Maqubela guilty of murder, fraud and forgery in the Western Cape High Court.
Maqubela has now been taken into custody.
She embraced her daughter and they exchanged a few words before she was handcuffed and led down to the holding cell.
The evidence against her was damning, with Murphy saying she killed her husband and lied at least 30 times to cover up the truth.
Maqubela was also found guilty of fraud and forgery after she changed her husband's will.
Acting Judge Patrick Maqubela's body was discovered in a Bantry Bay apartment in 2009.
Co-accused Vela Mabena was acquitted of all charges after prosecutors failed to prove without a reasonable doubt that he was involved in the murder.
He was allowed to walk free.
