Metrorail probes latest train deaths
Three people were struck and killed after they had disembarked from a stationary train.
CAPE TOWN - Metrorail in the Western Cape says an investigation is underway after three people were killed after being hit by a train.
The three were crossing a railway line earlier this week when the tragedy occurred.
They had disembarked a stationary train.
Metrorail's Riana Scott says, "If trains for some reason come to a halt, do not disembark. It's tempting, but the chances are that other trains are still operating, and that's exactly what happened here. Delays of that nature are not worth your life."
A week ago a person was killed after being hit by a train in the Kuils River area.
Trains on the Strand line were delayed as a result.
Metrorail's Mthuthuzeli Swartz said, "Apparently the accident was so graphic that the driver of the oncoming train witnessed what happened."
