Generations feud resolved
An agreement has been reached to end the six-week contractual dispute.
JOHANNESBURG - Filming of popular soap Generations will resume today after an agreement was reached between cast members and the show's creator Mfundi Vundla.
The agreement was reached yesterday ending a six-week contractual dispute.
A total of 12 cast members had refused to sign new contracts because they were demanding three-year contracts with no loopholes.
The actors' lawyer Bulelani Mzamo said the parties have agreed on the salient aspects of the contract.
"We have agreed on the key points which are that Morula Pictures have offered the performers a three-year contract and have also agreed to some of their key demands."
Mzamo added that a few issues still need to be finalised.
"The contract will have to be finalised and refined between now and March 2014. We will try and do that quicker if possible and in the meantime, we will continue with negotiations on the minor aspects."
He said cast members are glad they finally have certainty surrounding the security of their jobs.
"They are elated and they know that from now onwards they can go back to work with the peace of mind that they will be there for the next three years."
Mzamo said both parties have agreed that things will now be managed differently to the way they were in the past.
Cast members involved in the dispute included Sophie Ndaba (Queen), Katlego Danke (Dineo), Menzi Ngubane (Sibusiso) and Zenande Mfenyana (Noluntu).
