A 10-year-old boy’s body was found in the bushes of Ramaphosa informal settlement with his socks in his mouth.
JOHANNESBURG - A 10 year old boy, who was reported missing in the Ramaphosa informal settlement on the East Rand on Sunday, has been found murdered and possibly raped.
Before his disappearance Siphamandla Madikane was last seen playing with his friends on Sunday night, around 7pm.
A missing person's case was opened on Monday at the Reiger Park Police Station and police together with community members immediately started searching for the boy.
Police say his half burned and naked body was found in the bushes by a passerby in the township, with socks stuffed in his mouth and a used condom alongside his body.
The passerby, who had been walking on a pathway in the bush, immediately alerted police and the boy was identified.
Police are now requesting assistance from the Ramaphosa community to help find the perpetrator.
A case of rape and murder has been registered at the Reiger Park Police Station for investigation.
