JOHANNESBURG - Limpopo police have re-arrested an alleged serial rapist after he escaped from custody over a month ago.

Jacob Kgatlhane was apprehended on Friday following a tip-off from community members.

Authorities say the 32-year-old suspect is facing 13 charges of rape committed in several areas in the province.

The police's Thulani Zwane says, "We had to take him through the finger print processes, which had to go to our forensic laboratory for further confirmation so yesterday afternoon we did receive confirmation from all the expects that it was the right suspect."

The Mankweng Regional Court last month sentenced another Limpopo man to life imprisonment for raping 11 women and a 14-year-old girl.

The 24-year-old man was sentenced to seven life sentences and 130 years for 12 counts of rape, five counts of robbery and one of kidnapping.
