JOHANNESBURG - Justice Minister Jeff Radebe says there will be increased police visibility on the country's freeways throughout the festive season.

This is in an attempt to stop aggravated robberies, confiscate illegal firearms and enforce road safety rules and other by-laws.

Radebe was speaking at the justice, crime prevention and security cluster briefing in Pretoria a short-while ago.

He says from now until the end of January next year, police will increase visibility on foot, vehicle and airborne patrols.

"There will be more roadblocks, cordoned and search operations primarily focusing on the proliferations of firearms, preventing aggravated robberies and capture of killers on our wanted list."
