Zille fuming after being booed
Zille says she knew she was going to be heckled by ANC supporters at a development launch.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille says she knew she was going to be jeered by African National Congress (ANC) supporters at the launch of a major development on the West Coast on Thursday.
The Premier accompanied President Jacob Zuma to launch the industrial development zone initiative in Saldanha Bay.
Zille was however not given a chance to address the crowd because she was booed off the stage.
She tried, in vain, to calm the crowd of thousands who were gathered at the Diazville Sports Ground.
Zille briefly spoke to the President before marching off the stage.
"He sits there and he says nothing. I said to him, 'Mr President, I told you last night that this was going to happen.' And he told me he would deal with it. He is clearly not dealing with it now."
The Premier says she will report to the Public Protector what she calls the consistent abuse of public funds by the ruling party.
