JOHANNESBURG - The announcement by Cricket South Africa (CSA) for fixtures for India's shortened tour to South Africa has upset the Western Cape.

WC Cricket President Beresford Williams told Sport Talk that when he was informed of the news he felt shocked and disappointed.

"The announcement has big impact on the people of Cape Town. CSA explained it to us and we agreed. But the reality is that we'll lose millions as it will affect advertising, hospitality and beverage sales. "

According to CSA and the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the number of matches was in accordance with the Future Tours Programme agreed by the International Cricket Council member countries more than three years ago.

Williams said he felt "let down" by CSA and the people of Cape Town will lose out.

"It's like losing Table Mountain because tourists throughout the country look forward to the New Year's Test at Newlands. My concern is the effect it will have on direct stakeholders."
