Penis piercing teacher apologises
The teacher admitted to taking the teens for piercings, but insists there was no sexual basis for this.
JOHANNESBURG - The Willowridge High School teacher who was fired for taking teenage boys to have their penises pierced says he is guilty of misconduct and he's sorry for what he did.
Eyewitness News on Wednesday revealed the teacher was dismissed last week by the school governing body for taking three teenagers for Prince Albert piercings, having his own penis pierced in front of the boys and taking one of them for a tattoo.
But he insists there was nothing sexual about the behaviour.
The 57-year-old teacher says he is not contesting the decision to fire him because he is guilty of misconduct.
He admits to taking the boys for piercings, but insists there was no sexual basis for this.
Instead he says he got involved with a group of guys who decided they were getting the piercings to bond as brothers and he wanted to look out for them.
He adds he had his own penis pierced first to ensure the boys came to no harm, but in retrospect he never should have got involved.
The teacher says he personally went to the principal two days after the incident to admit he had messed up.
