New political thriller to hit SA screens
End Game, a new hard-hitting political thriller, will air on SABC 1 tonight.
JOHANNESBURG - A new local drama series is set to hit the small screen tonight.
End Game is a hard-hitting political thriller which focuses on a woman who has been thrust into the centre of a conspiracy to kill the president.
The show's creator Thandi Brewer said the show is very strong in its politics and covers controversial government issues.
"I think people will find it very intriguing on that league. We have been very bold in the shooting of it."
She said it has taken 18 years for her script to be accepted.
"I kept repitching it every year and it kept getting shortlisted and then it would slip through the cracks. This time round, I decided if it isn't getting accepted I am giving up. It has gone through quite a process."
Brewer said she is very excited to have collaborated with Nigerian born actor and director Akin Omotoso on the show.
Omotoso said while the show is a bit bold in its themes, he thinks its time for South Africa television to be a bit controversial.
"It's time for South African television to stop being so scared and start being bold and putting things out there."
The show features an all-star cast including Hlomla Dandala, Bubu Mazibuko, Dineo Nchabeleng, Lucky Khoza and Siyabonga Xaba.
It airs on SABC 1 at 20:30.
