Idris Elba to DJ in Soweto
The actor will perform a live music set at popular Soweto hangout spot Chaf Pozi.
JOHANNESBURG - British actor Idris Elba is set to perform a live music set at popular Soweto hangout spot Chaf Pozi on Saturday.
Elba, who is portraying Nelson Mandela in the upcoming movie Nelson Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, is no stranger to South Africa and was spotted at the Delicious Food and Music Festival a few weeks ago.
This weekend's gig is promoting his debut album on the music scene which is set to hit the shelves in February next year.
Elba DJs under the moniker 7Wallace or 7Dub.
He is primarily in South Africa to promote the Mandela biopic alongside fellow cast members Naomie Harris, Terry Pheto, Riaad Moosa, Lindiwe Matshikiza and Deon Lotz.
The movie is a film adaptation of Nelson Mandela's autobiography _Long Walk to Freedom _and was fully financed and shot in South Africa,
Elba is best known for his roles in TV shows _The Wire _and _Luther _and movies Pacific Rim, _Prometheus _and Thor.
The film will be released in South Africa on 28 November.
