'Transformation is everyone's responsibility'

The minister says transformation is a national objective all South Africans must pursue and support.

CAPE TOWN - Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor says all South Africans must accept they play an important role in ensuring transformation take place.

Pandor delivered the keynote address at the annual Imam Haron Memorial Lecture in Cape Town last night.

The minister's speech focused on transformation, particularly in education, since 1994.

She said while a growing number of black people are graduating from universities, advancement in maths and science still lags behind global standards.

Pandor says positive change is everyone's responsibility.

"We must accept that transformation is a national objective all of us must pursue and support. The task of change doesn't belong to just a few."
