Unemployment rate drops to 24.7%
A total of 6.8 million people in South Africa remain unemployed.
CAPE TOWN - Newly released figures show that 6.8 million people in South Africa remain unemployed.
The Quarterly Labour Force Survey was released on Tuesday.
It shows a slight drop in the official unemployment rate, which now stands at 24.7 percent.
The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Sacci)'s Peggy Drodskie says the change is so small it won't make any difference.
"It is better than an increase. It's in the right direction and that's about all that we can say about it. With the high unemployment rate that we have, this will make no tangible difference whatsoever."
