Booysen accused found guilty
Johannes Kana has been found guilty of raping and murdering Anene Booysen.
CAPE TOWN - Johannes Kana has been found guilty of raping and murdering Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen.
The 17-year-old was raped, mutilated and left for dead at a construction site in February.
Kana has maintained throughout the trial that he raped Booysen but denies claims he killed her.
Speaking in the Swellendam Circuit Court on Tuesday, Judge Patricia Goliath disagreed with Kana.
She says the court is satisfied with the evidence against Kana and that he is the one who mutilated Booysen, which eventually led to her death.
Goliath says the evidence points to Kana as the rapist and last person who was with Booysen.
In her judgement, she says it is highly unlikely that any other person would have been able to mutilate the teenager in a short time span.
Kana is expected to be sentenced on Wednesday.
