JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg police are investigating the rape of another child in Diepsloot near Fourways.

The township has seen a number of attacks against children over the past few months.

In the latest incident, the child's mother told police she left her three-year old in the care of her father and uncle on Friday night, but noticed something was amiss the following morning.

The mother of the three-year-old says when she tried to bathe her daughter she noticed her child was in pain.

"After taking my medication, I went to bed and left her with my husband and his brother. The next morning when I bathed her, she complained of pain."

She says her brother-in-law has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Earlier this month, cousins Zandile and Yonelisa Mali were raped and murdered in Diepsloot. Their mutilated bodies were found in a public toilet.

Five men have been arrested in connection with the crime.

The body of a baby was also found dumped in a local stream.

Police are still searching for the child's mother.
