Wins for Maritzburg and Wits

JOHANNESBURG - Bidvest Wits beat Free State Stars 2-0 in the Absa Premiership on Sunday to move to fourth on the log.

The sides went into the break goalless, but in the second half Matthew Pattison and Sibusiso Vilakazi scored a goal each to hand Stars their third loss of the season.

Maritzburg United defeated Amazulu 2-0 after second half goals by Yakubu Mohammed and Thokozani Sekotlong as neither side could break the deadlock in the first half.

The game between SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic ended in a 1-all draw.

Musa Nyatama scored for Celtic in the first half and United had to wait for a 79th minute penalty before they could level the match.

Mame Niang converted from the spot to give both sides one log point each.

After this weekend's results SuperSport United is back on top with Moroka Swallows on the PSL log.

Both are on 15 points.

One point behind them is Mamelodi Sundowns who have a game in hand.

A further two points back are Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs, both also have a game in hand.

At the wrong end of the table are Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates on four points, but the Buccaneers have played five games less than the log leaders.
